Synopsis of The Newsroom Mafia
When Supercop, Donald Fernandez declares an all-out war against the invincible Don, Narayan Swamy, he fights back with a formidable Mafia — a private army of armed thugs and a motley gang of corrupt police officers, backed by powerful politicians. What follows is a battle of raw power, sleaze, wits and dirty tactics by both the law breakers and the law enforcers blurring boundaries between good and evil. To save his skin, the Don fires his most lethal weapon, The Newsroom Mafia. In this novel, veteran-journalist-turned-novelist, Oswald Pereira provides an insider’s view of the growing culture of planted news and reveals the fine line between fact and fiction in the newsroom. A racy, compelling crime thriller, The Newsroom Mafia captures the unholy alliance between the fourth estate, the underworld and the Government.

About Corruption in Journalism
Reviewed by Manisha Arora. product Posted on: 24/04/2012
This novel held my interest throughout. It was thoroughly unputdownable. The story raced, with interesting twists and turns. But it was no ordinary thriller. The book has a message and a powerful one at that:the fourth estate that is supposed to be a watchdog and one that writes about corruption, is itself tainted and in league with unsavoury elements, like the underworld mafia.
The characters in the story were complex; and if this is the stuff that journalists are made of, then even God can't save the profession of journalism.

Exciting and fast read, but simple language

I'm glad I bought this book, because I enjoyed it right from the start to the finish. The beginning was exciting and the end was really intriguing. Of course, the rest of the book too made a great read. The story moved at a breakneck pace. The characters of the journalists, the supercop and the don fascinated me...the way they plotted and schemed and waged a battle to be one up over the other.
The book was written in such nice, simple prose, and it was such an interesting a read. Full marks to this good book. A must read!
